Goldfish
The evidence shows that one of the first ever animal that has been tamed by human being is gold fish. Iranians found them on thier eastern lakes for the first time and brought them for farming and growing because they are beautiful and sign of Farrah (shine and light of god ). Iranians never eat them but keep them as a part of life elements on the Haftseen (seven elements in the houses to celebrate the Persian new year and the Spring).

Nothing like being in Tehran with a good air
These days with the start of the Persian 3763 new year (Nowruz) there are spectacular views from Tehran with its beautiful mountains, still holding some snow on top. The air is cool and clean. It is less populated all over the city due to the holidays. To move around the city is a lot more convenient and pleasent that one wish to have more of these days around the year which is not happening as much and when it happens we say “are we going to see this very soon again hopefully!?”

The Masnavi
A must read book written by most famous poem of all time Rumi. It is full of amazing stories so beautifully written and recited. It is actually a first meeting point of western philosophy with eastern spirituality.

The Mantiq ut Tayr
It is known as “The Conference of The Birds” in the west written by Faridduddin Attar Neyshaburi. It is a spiritual journey that Attar says it so simple and so easy to understand.

The Shahnameh
A book about everything in life written by Ferdowsi. The most important book in History of Iran and even the world that has been the main inspirational source of so many projects until today.

Kamanche
Zhubin Kalhor’s Original Iranian Kamanche made by Kordi (#161). He has been playing for the past twenty eight years with the same instrument all over the world in concerts, recordings and other art projects.

M. S. GopalKrishnan India - Chennai
When I met him for the first time he told me to come back in two weeks. I don’t know if he knew how far I come to see him. Flaying from Iran going to Pune and taking another plane to Chennai because when I called him from Iran he said “just come whenever you want”. anyway I was in shock but left to Goa for two weeks and waited there to come back to Chennai to see his performance at the All India Radio Chennai. Children were coming to touch his feet to get blessings after his concert. Then he said “I will see you tomorrow morning at 10” and that was it. I have started to learn and not gather but loose what was not needed on my way and get lighter and lighter in music and style. It was exactly what I have lost on my way. His style of music was what I was searching for all my life. Playing so easy the most complicated riffs and melodies without any pressures. He could play anything being so relax.

Niik Kalhor
When my son was born I started to learn with him everything again from beginning but he was more open to the world so I started to learn from him more than I could teach.

Bahram Pourmand (Bahramji) Iran - Kermanshah
From very young age I was always in love with his free style having no boundaries in musical journey but following the energy and creating a dancing and moving vibe. We have been playing , performing and recording together for the pas twenty eight years.

Ardeshir Kamkar Iran - Sanandaj
The first time I wanted to learn Daf from his brother so I went to see them and his brother Bijan was busy that day so I started to learn from him. After sometimes my progress was very fast so I decided to learn from him the Kamanche and that was the start of my journey to music seriousely because he was a great teacher and supportive all the time. I was right he is a wonderful man.

George Milchberg France - Eourres
Great Maestro in harmonies and poetic music. Born in Argentina and moved to France in very young age, he was the founder of Los Incas and the composer of “El Condor Pasa”. I have learned a lot just by watching him play at his home so natural with some simple notes in certain harmonies that can be so poetic and touching. The music can be magical when it is played by the right person.

Mastar of Djembe USA - Newyork
I loved the way he was teaching and started his classes with prayers. He took over and let you get drawn into music and learn by the nature of music.

Ahura Band
Sangit Sirus was one of the pioneers in the genre of new age in the 80s creating music for meditation with his multicultural fusion band traveling and performing in Europe and India. Later on with Mohammad Eghbal and Christa Eghbal they have created Ahura Band recorded several albums like “Fire and Light” which was the first ever new age Iranian band. I had the pleasure to be playing with them in India – Goa for their reunion after twenty years.

Great Teacher Mohammadreza Lotfi Iran - Gorgan
The first time I saw him it was when he came to our house because he was friend of my father and he played with my instrument for hours in a room with all of us sitting and listening. later on I saw him few more times and learned a lot from him. He was thinking for half an hour sometimes to tell me the best thing I needed because he knew we would not see each other again for some times. The last time I met him he just played for few of us in his office and told me “you have learned so much”

Being in Istanbul for CD release

Recording
Solo and Collaboration is the way to let the moment to be remembered and keep that energy flowing. Music is a live art form that is very depend on the moment between the musicians and the listeners. Normally it is never possible to play live for the whole world in one moment but the recording will keep it alive. Specially some of these moments are unrepeatable. Zhubin Kalhor was featured as a guest musician or being part of a project in many well-known single recordings and music albums like : “Call of the Mystic” playing Kamanche , Setar and Tombak. “Shekare Ahoo” playing Kamanche. “Himalaya” co-composing, playing Daf and Kamanche. “Sufi Flame” playing Kamanche and Daf. “Vibrant Silences” Playing Kamanche and daf.
